Lessons from the Best - Stylish Office Space
Nothing is permanent these days, we are constantly on the go and change is everywhere. A business can change office spaces several times as they grow, change location, or upgrade. Even though your working space may change, everyone still wants to have a stylish office to be proud of. Work spaces to spark creativity and inspiration and not be full of monotone features. As a business, you don’t always want to be spending money on office furniture each time you move, so how can you combine, style, function and hardwearing?
Modular furniture is fantastic, you can add to and take away depending on your needs and the space. You want to make the environment fun, so zone your space for specific functions using furniture as the walls. Major companies such as Facebook, Google and Pixar provide fantastic creative spaces, using a mix of furniture, enclosed spaces and fun. You will see that there aren’t many walls; huts or internal structures rather than rooms create private spaces.
Obviously we are unable to re-create the spaces of these multi-million companies but we can take away some style inspiration.
Office divides create private spaces on a large communal desk but they can also restrict. Take away the divides and have large open desks. Create personal space above, below or to the side of the desks.
We all need areas to sit and chat from time to time that are away from our desks, they don’t need to be private but they do need to be practical.
Don’t be afraid of colour
Adding some colour brings your office to life. How many office spaces do you visit where they have the same standard beach desks and black office chairs? If you have people coming into your office space, let them leave not only remembering you but also your office.
Create private spaces
Creating spaces without building walls is a radical concept for us traditional British. You don’t have to be as extreme as having sheds, which could be difficult for moving, but think outside the box. This office pod and meeting room is a fantastic idea, it is created from a curved pop up stand.
We all know that productivity increases if the company is a fun place to work. I don’t mean that you have games, but furnishing an area with interiors that don’t feel too conformed can give the same effect.
So throw out your beech desk and rip up the "standard office" handbook and start thinking of an office that is not only stylish and functional but also a space that inspires creativity. And remember this is an office that will go wherever you go!
